AWS Summit in San Fran: 'Best Practices for Cloud Delivery,' 'Optimizing TCO' Sessions Near & Dear to a Flux7 CEO's Heart

I am on my way to the AWS Summit in San Francisco, where my objective is to chat up AWS as much as possible with as many who want to be a part of it. I also want to share what sessions I plan to attend. Here goes:

8AM - 12:45PM: I will be at the venue ideally engaging in conversations. I need to say "hello" to a few friends as I mentioned previously. When free, I will hangout at the Expo, especially if there is a partners area. Hit me up if you would like to chat.

Now, on to the breakout sessions.

12:45PM - 1:45PM: I am torn between the talk on OpsWorks and Beanstalk and "Big Data & HPC: Big Data and High Performance Computing Solutions in the AWS Cloud." I have decided to attend the talk by Ben Butler about HPC because I have hands-on experience with OpsWorks and Beanstalk.

2PM - 3PM: Again, there is a tie. There are four talks that I am very interested in attending. The one about HPC because of my HPC roots and the work we do at Flux7 with HPC in AWS. Also, there's "The Cloud Adoption: IT Extreme Makeover with Hybrid Scenarios" as it's a challenge we face everyday working with Fortune 500 companies. The one on CloudFront and Route53 because caching fascinates me. I am an architect at heart, and caching is one of the only techniques that can reduce cost and improve performance and reliability all at the same time. As an architect, it's a nirvana, and I like to use CloudFront anywhere possible.

Lastly, the one on the AWS Marketplace. I think I will attend this one because it is a long term goal of Flux7 to make it easier for our customers to deploy Flux7's best practices architectures in a self-service model using the Marketplace. I feel like I want to learn more about this.

3:15PM - 4:15PM: Again, two contenders. Applying the best practices and processes for rapid cloud delivery. And, "Partnering with AWS." I am still undecided. I will most likely attend the Cloudnexa talk about best practices for Cloud Delivery because its a topic dear to my heart. At Flux7, we are very focused on development workflow and
delivery.

4:30PM - 5:30PM: In this case, I think we have a winner. I definitely want to attend "Optimizing Total Cost of Ownership for the AWS Cloud." I want to attend it because Flux7 champions cost optimization in AWS, and while we have a dozen
techniques up our sleeves, I want to learn what techniques AWS is recommending or others are using. Very interested in networking with the attendees of this session!

5:30PM - 7PM: I will be at the Networking Reception. Again, I am booked to meet a few friends, and will engage in networking and making new friends.

7PM -10PM: I am deliberating between the AWS Summit Social and the AWS Activate Startup social event. At the moment, I am inclined to attend the AWS Summit Social because I expect to find more thought-provoking conversations there. However, this is a close tie, and I may flip.

Have you decided if you are attending the AWS Summit Social or the AWS Activate Networking & Social Event for Startups? If so, let me know your thoughts. I am open to ideas.And. thanks for reading.
